Our dear friends Virginie Lamarche and Derek Baxter brought baby West into the world nine days ago. Grandma Lamarche was visiting from Montreal and those are her hands wrapped around the snoozer. During my brief visit the golden boy brought out all the emotions and then showed us a few dance moves on the floor. The future looks so bright.

We lovingly refer to our home as the Mullet House because it's a classic white Victorian heritage house in the front and a red, open, lofty west coast modern house in the rear. We are sad to have to move on after 12 years here. I was laying in bed last night listening to the owl in our ancient fir tree in the front yard hooting out to another owl a half mile away in another one of the only remaining giant firs in the valley and thinking how crazy we are to leave this beautiful place. But it's time for change. Time to get smaller. This one-acre piece is just too much for us. We are photographers and we want to spend more time producing interesting and meaningful work and less time mowing the lawn. Cheryl and I have done all of the work you see here. I will drum up some pics of the house when we first arrived so you can see some of the big changes. Mostly, we just created a cool, comfortable kitchen and west-facing deck that allowed us to host intimate dinner parties and hang out with our friends. Where will we go when we sell? Who knows. We truly haven't thought that far ahead. The next great adventure awaits us and we can't wait to get started. Please come visit soon.
Oh, and the first and third photo were taken this morning and the second picture was about a month ago when we decided to finally "finish" the kitchen with new cabinets and flooring. More to come.

The best thing about family is that it defies description. Fortunately, the definition is love. And there is no shortage of it in the McDonald household.
My good friends Darren, Christy and Keeley are soon to be four with Christy about to give birth any day now. Can't wait to meet the new addition and create some more sweet prints for the walls.

Ari Burstein proposed to Ruth Kalekye on the roof of the Georgia Hotel in downtown Vancouver last night. Ruth didn't see it coming and was equally surprised when Ari took her downstairs to an eagerly waiting party room filled with family and friends and the night-long celebration. It was an emotional night for all and the historic Georgia Hotel created a spectacular setting.

LIJA is a Vancouver fashion brand specializing in funky women's sports wear. Tennis, yoga, running, golf. I don't wear funky women's sports wear, but documenting
the design process for LIJA's upcoming collection made me think about it.
